Why Seam Rippers???
I started making Seam Rippers because my wife started sewing again and she didn't have a seam ripper that she could effectively use. She suffered a severe stroke 13 years ago and still does not have use of anything on the right side of her body. The left hand has become her only hand to use, and as a result, gets tired quickly. Her previous seam ripper in her sewing kit had a very small thin handle. She could only use it for very short bursts of time, which usually were not long enough to get the job done.
I came across the components atone of my suppliers of pen making hardware and thought I would make with two-fold purpose.
First, on a necklace with a magnetic release so that it was always within reach, and she wouldn't have to maneuver her wheelchair if it became out of reach on her sewing table.
Second, I wanted it to be more ergonomically pleasing and easy to hold without fatigue, so I made the handle thicker than what is common in the current seam rippers out in the market. I looked at Etsy and most of my fellow handmade sellers that are selling seam rippers, are also making the handles sleek and thin. She loved it!
So, I made a couple more on necklaces along with some 2-in-1 Combination Seam Rippers that had a good quality Japanese Steel Blade on the Seam Ripper, but also a very sharp thin stiletto blade. I made a few gifts for relatives who also sew, and the reports back were great.

I then decided to make some of different colors in order to see how the market would react. I must say, these sell very quickly, and I get rave reviews from customers.

I now offer them in 190 different colors. I have ready made stock for the most popular 12 to 14 colors and have listings for made-to-order where the customer can choose their own color choice, along with the choice of metal plating for the hardware.
